Obituary of Donald Russell
Don Russell was born on the 4th of July in 1944, the son of a railroad engineer and a PE teacher who kept him active and busy his whole childhood. Don was born and raised in Buffalo, and graduated with an accounting degree from Gannon University in Pennsylvania. He joined the Air Force shortly after, and was promoted quickly to sergeant’s assistant by being the only guy they could find who could type. He climbed to the rank of sergeant before long and served in Vietnam. After his service, he spent many years as an accountant and insurance salesman before retiring in 2015 from United Insurance.
Don was a devoted father to his 3 sons, and a loving husband to his wife of 50 years. He loved dogs and almost always had a golden retriever in his home. He leaves behind two loving pups. He was a very hard working and ethical man with a stubborn streak. He loved sports. He was a huge fan of the yankees, the Bills, and the Sabres. His love of playing sports was instilled in him early on, and he continued bowling and playing golf as long as he was able. He prided himself on having hit two hole-in-ones.
